Untitled Portrait - Original Art
Acrylic & Mixed-Media on Canvas
30x61cm
Original Art by Luke Brohman
Featured in The Arts Collective February 2024 show “Brisbane”
A painting of multitudes - a figure emerges from the crackle and chaos, blissful in their place, while messy and broken. A painting that obscures a personal harship for the artist, and transforms it into the beautiful chaos seen on the canvas. Artist Luke Brohman was raised in Brisbane by a working class family who didn't shy from hard labour and tough choices. This painting takes all the rough edges of lower-class-suburban culture and reveals them through mark making and texture, giving it a glossy finish that acts as a nod to the content and joy that exists within those communities.
