An Other Name for Blue
40x70cm
Acrylic paint on pine wood panel
One's own knowledge of death has a way of summoning the Other, of reflecting our shadow back to ourselves and being with the mystery of that greatest of transformations. In this piece, an otherworldly being has been summoned with offerings of garlic and jasmine flowers, between three candles, under the dark moon. A mirror, an inversion, a reflection. The use of sapphire blues evokes the mirror, the mirage, and the Otherness of our reflection.
